How can we leave the world better than we found it? Or to start, how can we leave it even just as good as we find it today?

H. William “Bill” Clark ’74 has spent much of his adult life pondering such questions, some of which he first began considering on trips camping and fishing with his father.

Around the World and Back

Bill’s career as a petrochemical engineer required him to travel overseas. His time traveling piqued his concerns for sustainability, with his years working in Brazil making a huge impact. “Learning a new language and culture was a defining moment in my life—we are all one global village,” he said.

“A large, robust and standardized EV fast-charging station network is the key to expanded purchase and use of EVs at Texas A&M and throughout the state,” Bill explained. “A lack of fast-chargers is a primary reason people are not purchasing EVs. Texas A&M was and is moving forward with EV fast-charging and sustainable mobility.”

Lead by Example

In 2020, Bill established the TAMU Sustainable Mobility Account with an initial $5,000 gift and has continued to contribute additional donations. Open to outside contributions, this account is focused on sustainable public mobility efforts related to Transportation Services at Texas A&M.
