No matter how accustomed you may become, some of life’s rarities simply command attention. On a recent walk across campus, I found my gaze drawn toward a familiar sight that garnered a newfound perspective. As I glanced at its evergreen beauty, our university’s beloved Century Tree and its unwavering stature inspired me.
I found it hard not to watch students pass by its limbs without imagining the decades of wisdom the iconic tree must have seen. This firmly planted, living tradition has withstood the test of time and is a monumental marker in the scenes of countless Aggie stories. It’s where generations of unions begin, Ross Volunteers slowly march and pay respects at Silver Taps, and relationships and values are nurtured and endure forever.
